Finally! I've finished shy effects in time (I took a litlle break afterwards, thats why it wasn't uploaded until now.) and get a great rating of my teachers. I'm happy with this animation, of course there are still a few things I would do different but that's for the next time. I'm excited what you think of shy effects.
I've put some of my drawings in a showreel. It's for my portofolio. I must find a workplace for the period april, mai, june to get some work experience. Please if you now something let me know. Ass long it has something with animation it's fine.
*24-02-07* For some reason the still frames are really messed up by you tube, argh! Go to: http://me-and-u.deviantart.com/ for my drawings in high quality.Sorry for this.
Animation I made with Lisa Hochstenbach, Elly Bouman and Derk Brand. We've worked 2 months on this and we really satisfied with it. The story is about a lonely boy and he lives on top of the highest building. He's bored until he finds a red kite in his dead tree. He wants the kite but he finds out that at the other end of the rope there's a girl. They fight, each wanting the kite but then happens...
We used the greenscreen at school. It was hard work but soo much fun. The actors were really great. The boy is my neighbour and we found the girl in a theatre school.
I'm animating every day now. I hope I'll finish it in time ( next week is the deadline).
I've choosen the striped wallpaper but it was difficult to make it the right size. When I showed it too my teacher he said it draws all the attention away from the animation so I changed it again. And this time it was good.
I have more animated than the sneak peak shows but the rest is a little surprise. Next week the full animation....
I made some "finished" screens. It could turn out different in the end annyway because I make those dessicions mostly while I'm working. But for now I have two styles in my head so I had to work them out and compare each other. The old photo look and the childrens bedroom look. I choose one of them tomorrow.
I've a new school project about lipsync. I have found a nice dutch poem on the internet written by Ingmar Heytze. It was short and funny so I used it for this lipsync animation project. It's about a person telling you how shy he is. Some people turn red or are starting to sweat but he's got bunnies growing out of his head. This is the dutch version:
SHY EFFECTS
Ingmar Heytze
Ben ik verlegen wordt elke gedachte een bang konijntje op mijn hoofd.
Ik kan daar verder niets aan doen: de een gaat zweten, de ander wordt rood
en ik zit al gauw met een roedel konijntjes op schoot.
Long time since my last update. I was very buisy, with school and other things. I live in Tilburg now in a very old house with my boyfriend. It's soo much fun.
I've had the first weeks of school storyboard workshop. An experienced guest animator came to teach us how to make a proffesional storyboard for your animations. His name is Hisko Hulsing and he've had an official dutch entry for the academy awards 2005 with his animation "seventeen". I've learned a lot of him, searching for different camera angles, painting in painter and much more.
I've also finished my first animation project. We had too combine differend animation techniques. I've worked together with Lisa Hochstenbach, Elly Bouman and Derk Brand. Our animation is about a boy living on top of a skyscraper and one day he finds a kite in his (dead) tree. It belongs too a girl on the bottom of the skyscraper. He puls her up and they start a fight, both wanting the kite. What'll happen? I'm not giving away the end. We used a combination of real actors with greenscreen, a maquette and drawn animation. It turned out so good! I'll show the animation along with my moving storyboard on this site soon.
Vacation is over. Today was my first schoolday. I'm now a third year animation student and I'm so excited! I'm full of ideas. Our new project starts next week and of course everything is updated on this site.
The first sketches. I drew a few weird animals and later I desided to use one of them for this animation project. The same story with the robot. Click on the image for full view.
The final models in maya. The animal looks easy but it did cost me most of the time. And the rigging was a disaster! A big thank too Bas, he had the patience to help me.
