Dairy Max teamed up with the Dallas school district and the Cowboys this year to rename the “Play 60″ program “Fuel Up to Play 60.” James says the fueling up part is necessary.

“I usually eat chicken strips, hamburgers and French fries,” Taylor Ollivierre said of the former cafeteria food. “I like this more.”

After Johnston slid his chocolate milk across the table in a trade with a student, everyone was encouraged to take a big drink of milk and to leave on the milk-stache.

As part of the “Fuel Up to Play 60″ program, James and former Cowboys running back Daryl Johnston encouraged healthy eating habits and daily exercise at G.B. Dealey Montessori Vanguard and International Academy.

For Johnston, the program is especially timely.

“It’s actually all right,” he said. “It’s better than what I grew up with in school.”

“Run up and down the hallways,” he said, drawing laughter from students and a slight smile from Principal Johanna Bortnem. “If you get in trouble, say, ‘Hey! Fuel Up to Play 60.”

“Go out and get your milk after you get done running your sprints,” he said.

The crowd followed the two Cowboys from the auditorium to a small gymnasium, where two teams of students — one Johnston’s and the other James’ — completed an obstacle course.
