$ Howard scores 30 to help Magic pull away from Kings in 4th quarter, 109-88 (30/1/2010)
SACRAMENTO, Calif. ¡ª Dwight Howard had 30 points and 16 rebounds, and the Orlando Magic used a big run to open the fourth quarter and beat the Sacramento Kings 109-88 on Tuesday night. Ryan Anderson started the 18-4 run with a three-pointer on the opening possession of the quarter to give the Magic a 79-78 lead. Orlando just built on it from there, holding Sacramento to just one field goal in the first 7:14 of the period. Howard's dunk upped the lead to 10 points midway through the quarter and Mickael Pietrus' layup capped the 18-4 run, giving Orlando a 94-82 lead. Tyreke Evans scored 18 points and Beno Udrih added 15 for Sacramento, which was outscored 31-10 in the fourth quarter. Pietrus added 18 points and 10 rebounds, Anderson scored 12 and former Kings point guard Jason Williams had 12 points and six assists. The Magic have won two straight following a four-game losing streak and got off to a good start on a tough four-game road trip that will also send them to Denver, Portland and Los Angeles to play the Lakers. The day started off well for the Kings, who found out that star guard Kevin Martin has been cleared to practice after missing more than two months with a left wrist injury. Martin could return to game action as early as Friday. But they could not keep up the good news in the fourth quarter against the Magic, falling for the sixth time in seven games. Evans shot just 1-for-10 in the first half as he struggled to get going. But he began to find his stroke in the third quarter by going to the basket. Evans made all four of his shots in the third, including a three-pointer. The Kings took a 78-76 lead into the fourth, but that didn't last long. Howard scored 13 points in the first quarter and didn't score again until midway through the third. But he dominated the game late as the Kings had nobody to match up with his strength inside. The Kings went on a 14-3 run late in the second quarter to take a nine-point lead, sparked by the energy of reserve rookie forward Jon Brockman. But J.J. Redick's buzzer-beater off an inbound pass with 0.3 seconds left cut Sacramento's lead to 55-51 at the break. NOTES: Magic swingman Vince Carter missed his second straight game with a left shoulder injury. Coach Stan Van Gundy said Carter is feeling "a little better" but is still "not good enough" to play. ... Kings F Donte Greene returned after missing two games with a sprained right ankle. ... Newly acquired big man Hilton Armstrong did not dress the day after being traded to the Kings from New Orleans. He could play Friday in Philadelphia. buy VigRx

$ -finding employment during the credit crunch_579 (29/1/2010)
Finding employment during the credit crunchTimes are hard at the moment for everybody, but so much harder if you are in a position where you are looking to find a job. Whether it is because you are one of the unfortunate thousands who have been made redundant as a result of the recent economic downturn, which has forced well-known household names such as Woolworths and the Pier in to administration, or you have been looking for a job for a longer period of time, you need to be putting every advantage that you have to good use when applying for that job. There are two main reasons behind why it is harder to find a job in times like these, and they are essentially supply and demand. Supply of new jobs is becoming ever smaller, with firms downsizing rather than creating new vacancies, and this reduces the number of positions that are out there for you to apply for. There are also fewer new companies starting up, and the net result is a massive decrease in the number of vacancies advertised. At the same time, demand for these jobs is increasing, with more eager job-hunters waiting to apply for each position that comes up. Every time the latest company job cuts are announced, this pool of people searching for the vacancy you have your eye on increases making your chances that little bit slimmer. Basic economic theory tells us that the result of lower supply or higher demand is a higher 'price', and that is doubly true when both factors are combined. In the case of the jobs market, the higher 'price' that needs to be paid is your investment in applying for the job - getting yourself noticed in the first instance, and making sure that the impact that you make on your potential employer is as positive and long-lasting as possible. Luckily, the Internet has brought a new tool to your job hunting arsenal, and that is that of a video profile. You can now show your prospective employer what an asset you will be to their business by selling yourself through a short 'video CV' before the company have even gotten to the interview selection stage. When you have a lot to offer, then this method of job application is a sure fire way of getting yourself the notice that you deserve!tiffany bracelets on sale

$ -a brief history of new orleans mardi gras celebrations_250 (28/1/2010)
A Brief History of New Orleans Mardi Gras CelebrationsAlso known as Kings' Day or Twelfth Night, Jan. 6 celebrates the arrival of the three kings at Jesus' birthplace. This is traditionally the end of the Christmas season and the start of Carnival. This festival of fun finds its roots in various pagan celebrations of spring, dating back 5,000 years. Read more about the religious vestiges of Mardi Gras in religious magazines like Catholic Digest, Catholic Answer and Biblical Archaelogy Review.It was Pope Gregory XIII who made Mardi Gras a Christian holiday in 1582, when he put it on his Gregorian calendar on the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. The idea was for all the debauchery to be finished when it came time to fast and pray.The LeMoyne brothers, Iberville and Bienville brought the first Mardi Gras to North America in the late 17th century, when King Louis XIV sent the pair to defend France's claim on the territory of Louisiana.Today New Orleans is the most famous Mardi Gras-celebrating city in the world. Other cities famous for Mardi Gras celebrations are Nice, France

$ -five tips for your exit interview_570 (27/1/2010)
Five Tips For Your Exit InterviewExit interviews are sometimes held at inopportune times, especially from the viewpoint of the employee when he or she is either laid off or fired. Nevertheless, they are a must for progressive companies that want to look inward for reasons for an employee's exit.There are different viewpoints about these interviews as to the need for them in the first place. Should the exiting employee participate in it? If yes, how will it benefit him or her? Secondly, an exiting employee can hardly afford to ignore the fact that his or her revelations can be used against them, especially if they are in writing.Participating In the Exit Interview Is Your PrerogativeWhen you are faced with the interview, you need to think carefully about what you are going to say or write, as it can jeopardize any possibility of your re-employability, if there is any. Even if you are assured that your comments will not be used against you but for company analysis, you should still be diplomatic.Five Tips To Help You Confidently Face The Exit InterviewOn the surface, exit interviews serve to help organizations to correct themselves by collecting information such as possible discrimination, lack of opportunities, etc. So, picking up the motivation behind the exit interview will help you to know how to approach one.1.Attending Is A CourtesyOn your part, attending the exit interview is usually not mandatory. Even though you are not going to gain anything from it, you must make sure that the interview is not being used against you. If at any time you suspect this is the case, simply excuse yourself.2.Maintain Your ComposureMaintaining your composure is critical. The questions may appear trivial, although this may not be the case when you are being laid off or fired. Treat this as your chance to make them think again £¨and perhaps be sorry£© for having fired you.3.Do Not Sign Papers HastilyThere will probably be more than a few documents that will need to be signed, such as acknowledgement of your resignation or separation, and receipt of your final paycheck. But if you are asked to sign anything questionable, ask for time to review them, and to read and understand the contents. Ask whether it is mandatory. Any organization can always wait for a few more days.4.Return Any Company PropertyThis could be documents, keys etc, but list all of them on paper and get the interviewer to acknowledge receipt of these things.5.Commenting On Superiors And ColleaguesTypically, these interviews are well structured and come down to the core issues. Remember, it is unnecessary for you to comment on someone £¨negatively£© who you are not going to see for much longer.Procomil Spray

$ Local soldiers heading to Iraq (27/1/2010)
MARSHFIELD, MA ¡ª Two massive coach buses ¡ª painted with huge bald eagles on the sides ¡ª were outside with dozens of camouflage duffel bags neatly stored in the luggage area. Family and friends of the members of the 1058th Transportation Company of the Massachusetts National Guard huddled in the darkness Monday as their loved ones climbed on board. There were tears from the families, but plenty of thumbs up coming from the soldiers, who, after leaving Hingham, headed to Hansom Air Force Base to fly to Fort Sill, Okla. for more training.From there, the 1058th will be on its way to Iraq once again. David Nickerson of Marshfield was holding a sign for his son Nicholas. ¡°He is just 21 and I am anxious for him,¡± Nickerson said. ¡°But it is something he has wanted to do. He is anxious to get to the next step. They are going over there to help bring the troops home.¡± First Sgt. William Chiano of Marshfield described the 1058th as ¡°one big family.¡± He explained that the company was ready to deploy, complete the mission and come home safely. Chiano, who has been on all three Iraq deployments with the 1058th, said 40 percent of the 78 in the company had been deployed before, and this mission was expected to last a year.The 1058th has been combined with the 1166th and 1060th to form the 1166th HET Company (Heavy Equipment Transport). About 300 are being deployed in all with the 1166th. Specialist Thomas Labo, 27, of Marshfield, felt comfortable to be with such an experienced unit. Labo was chatting with Spc. Angel Soto, 29, of South Boston, and Spc. Louis Ferreira, 30, of Dorchester, inside the Hingham Armory just before the call to board the buses outside. The three young soldiers, all unmarried and on their first deployments, said they were filled with anticipation but wanted to ¡°get going.¡± Ferreira said the company had been preparing for the deployment for a long time. ¡°Once we get to Kuwait, the nerves will hit me,¡± he said. More than 700 people gathered at 6:30 a.m. Monday either at Hingham Town Hall or areas of Main and Central streets to show support for the 1058th. Although given a big send-off last week at TD Garden in Boston, this week¡¯s local showing of appreciation was just as heartfelt. It was early, and at 7 degrees, it was way below freezing, but folks realized all too well that where the 1058th is going, it is always hot and always dangerous. In fact, a large blue road sign from Operation Desert Storm that says ¡°Baghdad¡± still adorns the wall inside the armory. Another very large Baghdad road sign stands on the rear floor from Operation Iraq Freedom in 2004 and 2005. Specialist Heather Melanson, 23, of Plymouth, on her first deployment, said she had a range of emotions. ¡°I am a little bit excited, a little bit nervous and a little bit of everything,¡± she said. Melanson could not recall why she joined the National Guard except that she knew it would be a good experience. ¡°I knew no matter what came from it, it was going to be somewhat positive,¡± she said. Hingham Town Administrator and veteran Kevin Paicos, whose son served in Iraq, helped get the word out to once the details about the departure of the 1058th became known late last week. ¡°Believe me, the simple act of turning out for them, and the support your presence represents, means more to them than you might believe,¡± Paicos said. ¡°One of the hardest times for them is those first few hours when they leave behind their family and friends. Knowing we are behind them lets them know we honor their sacrifice...and it gives them strength. I promise your simple kindness in this regard will be returned to you manifold in your own good feelings.¡± As the buses pulled up Central Street, the soldiers could see fire trucks and Hingham Municipal Light Plant bucket trucks out in force to show support. Police blocked the street at Central and Elm and at Cold Corner. Flags were waving at town hall and spots along Main Street. Despite the cold, Lisa Follen and her son Hunter, 7, went to wave and show their support. ¡°This is something so little,¡± she said about the effort to get out at 6 a.m. ¡°They are making the big sacrifice this was the least we could do.¡± Tiffany & Co

$ -a look at how many hours english teachers work in taiwan_38 (26/1/2010)
A Look at How Many Hours English Teachers Work in TaiwanThe number of hours teachers work in Taiwan is in part due to the kind of schools that hire teachers. Most teachers work at what are known as cram schools. These schools are schools that hold English classes for children in the afternoons and evenings. Children attend these schools not because they want to but because their parents believe that sending them to English class will give them an advantage and provide them with a better future. These classes are always in the afternoons and evenings and this is why most English teachers in Taiwan work around the same number of hours per week. You might be able to get more or less, but the bulk of teachers work approximately the same number of hours.Classes for students at these cram schools are held from about 5pm to 9pm Monday to Friday with some Saturday classes being held in the mornings for usually two to four hours. When you add all this up it is easy to see why your workload at a cram school will be about 20 to 24 hours, as this is the number of hours you can physically work. More hours might be possible, but only if you work longer on Saturdays or your school is a kindergarten and holds morning classes. Be aware that working in a kindergarten is illegal and you do run the risk of being deported from Taiwan if they catch you. There are much safer and legal ways to get more hours if you want to work more than 20 to 24 hours a week.To increase the number of classes you have you can always try finding a second job. This might be easy or hard depending on a few things. The first is the city you are working in and the second is just how many extra hours do you want or need? The minimum number of hours your first job can give you is 14 hours a week, but your second job only needs to give you six hours a week. If you are in a large city you will probably find it easy to get work at a second school to increase your number of hours, but if are outside of a major city then it can be very difficult to find extra work. It might be a good idea to look for work in major cities if you are trying to get as many hours as possible.Expect to be teaching 20 hours or so a week if this is your first time to Taiwan Teaching English. More hours are definitely possible and after sometime you ll probably find out which schools are looking for teachers and build a network of friends who might even be able to let you know if their school has some positions available. To be safe, consider applying for jobs in big cities as you ll stand the best chance of finding more hours to teach thanks to the bulk of English cram schools being found in large cities.buy cialis online

$ -considering a career as a pharmacist_214 (26/1/2010)
Considering a Career As a PharmacistA pharmacist is a professional responsible for dispensing medications and handling prescriptions. The role of the pharmacist is as important as that of any other medical professional. The relationship that pharmacist s share with their patients is an important part of the care giving circle. That relationship ensures that patients take their medications as prescribed so they may enjoy healthy lives.The pharmacist of an age ago was seen as an individual who donned a white coat, dispensed root beer floats, and Coca Cola at the same rate in which they prepared prescription orders. The days of the pharmacist and the soda jerk are gone but the pharmacist maintains their standing as the individual responsible for maintaining the well being of a doctor s patients.To become a pharmacist, an individual must attend a 4 year baccalaureate program and complete a set of additional requisites to in order to receive their Doctorate in Pharmacology or PharmD degree. An individual who desires to become a pharmacist must be strong in science and math as a lot of their certification is based on a study of chemistry, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology. Although pharmacists do not operate on patients, they must have an understanding about how the body works and the basic chemical make up of the human body.Pharmacists are board certified practitioners who must pass a rigorous licensing examination in order to be able to practice. Once these requirements have been met, a pharmacist begins practicing their profession. Pharmacists are licensed by the state in which they do business, but are subject to both state and federal laws with respect to the dispensing medication. Pharmacists are employed by hospitals, retail chains and pharmacy stores or work as consultants on policy regarding prescription medicines. It is the role of the pharmacist to understand the make up of the human body and the chemical interaction between certain drugs and the body. This understanding may be the difference between life and death in certain circumstances.A pharmacist earns a little more than $100,000 a year in salary. When you consider that, the pharmacist does not complete quiet as much training as a medical doctor that number translates into a heath amount. The trade off is the amount of scrutiny and oversight that a pharmacist faces, from state officials up to the Drug Enforcement Agency £¨DEA£© and Food & Drug Administration £¨FDA£©¡£If you are planning a career as a pharmacist, you should spend some time at your local pharmacy and get a feel for the type of work that goes on from day to day. If you are old enough, you may consider a summer position in the pharmacy as a way to gain a first had perspective. You should also take care to make sure that your chemistry and mathematical skills are very good. The field of pharmacology is growing as the baby boomer population ages, requiring an urgent need for additional trained professional pharmacologists.
