It can be frightening to cope with anxiety. It can stop you from living a full life. It may even prevent you from enjoying old favorites. If you are tired of the way anxiety is dictating the way you live each day, continue reading to find ways to manage it.

Combat anxiety by keeping your mind and body otherwise engaged. When you just sit there all day and don't do anything, your mind may start to just focus on stressful things. A simple task, such as vacuuming the floor or washing the dishes, can do a lot for your mood.
When you're having a stressful time, pay attention to how you breathe. Your breaths get shorter, may vary, or even become erratic. This panicked breathing pattern happens naturally when you become stressed. Your body relies on a consistent supply of oxygen so you have to remember to breathe. Try your best to refocus your breathing when you are having an anxiety attack.
Ensure that you have someone in your life that will talk you through your anxiety and worries. You need supportive people in your life when you suffer from anxiety. It may be a bit scary to divulge your feelings at first, but you will soon feel the benefits of talking out your problems.
Stay focused on the present. You need to stop obsessing over past problems or future fears. To avoid stressing out about things that need to get done, make to-do lists that keep everything organized and well-planned. Avoid stress by avoiding people who you know will complicate your life. For instance, if one of your friends is negative, stay away from them, if possible. Negative people will only increase your feelings of anxiety.
Reduce your nicotine and alcohol intake. Contrary to popular option, these substances will not relax you. In fact, they could lead to you experiencing more anxiety. Turn to healthier things like relaxation techniques, healthy social activities, and a healthy diet.
Now that you have discovered some great coping mechanisms, you can keep anxiety from controlling you. Apply all that you have learned to get your life back and take control! After you apply these ideas in your daily life, you will achieve real results before you know it.
