New Mystic Online Casino Game Coming Soon

10:09, 13/8/2008 .. 0 comments .. Link

Psychic powers would be handy at a casino for a variety of obvious reasons. Bodog can’t give you supernatural powers, but they are doing the next best thing with the unveiling of their new casino game.

Bodog’s new game, Mystic Shuffle Hi-Lo, is simple in essence but can pay out massive prizes. To play the game, you must choose a card ranging from 1-20 and then wager on whether the next card drawn will be higher, lower or the same. You can also wager on whether it will be red or blue – the more times you guess right, the more you win.

You can wager between $0.10 and $500 on each go, and the software is just as easy to use as the game is to play. The up and down arrows control the size of your wager and the flash game uses a simple point-and-click system.

Silly SEO, Guarantee Your Work

09:47, 8/8/2008 .. 0 comments .. Link

Recently I read an article that yet again says there is no such thing as guaranteed search engine optimization. I feel this is an SEO argument that will last as long as the “content is king” and “links are where it’s at” war.

The truth is, there are two types of guaranteed search engine optimization companies, liars and experts that take calculated risks. So its true, nobody can say with absolute certainty that you will be on the first page. But they can certainly put their money where their proposal is. Thank about it, somebody is coming up to you saying “I know how to get your web site ranked on the first page of Google. Hire me and maybe you’ll get there, maybe you won’t.”

A White Hat SEO (a search engine optimization company that uses ethical practices) that guarantees their clients first page placement with a money back promise is simply taking a risk. They are looking at their history to see how long it takes to get a client on the first page using ethical SEO methods. Then, they are basically saying “based on our past performance we are confident that we can get your site on the first page within our twelve month term.”

What happens if they fail? If you’re working with a good company, you should get a peace of your investment back. Maybe the non guaranteeing SEO doesn’t want to let go of your hard earned money after he proved himself to not be the expert he originally claimed.

As with anything, you have to know what to avoid. First, take a trip down to Google’s guidelines for SEO’s. This is a page that most SEO companies (both White Hat and Black Hat) don’t want you to see. The easiest way to find it is by Googleing “Search engine optimization” its usually ranked number one or two.

If you’ve done that, you will see a bulletpoint that says “No one can guarantee a #1 ranking”. This is true. Nobody can say with absolute certainty that your web site will be the first entry on the first page on the Google search results page. But certainly, one can guarantee you will get on the first page. Here is how the paragraph appears in their guidelines.

No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google.

Beware of SEOs that claim to guarantee rankings, allege a "special relationship" with Google, or advertise a "priority submit" to Google. There is no priority submit for Google. In fact, the only way to submit a site to Google directly is through our Add URL page or by submitting a Sitemap and you can do this yourself at no cost whatsoever.”

So as you see, Google is talking against the Black Hat SEO’s that lie about special relationships, secret knowledge, and powers from the underworld. Guaranteeing a first page placement and guaranteeing a ranking are two different things.

First page means anywhere from number one to ten on the first page results for a search term. New web sites are being added to Google every day and things are always changing so rankings go up and down in a waving motion. A stable ranking is one that keeps their position by three ranks.

Read your SEO contracts carefully and make sure your proposal and contract says the same thing. And when an SEO says “We can’t guarantee anything”, maybe you should move on to one that has more experience and can.

Featured Freeware: Kruptos 2

09:51, 6/8/2008 .. 0 comments .. Link

This is easily one of the more useful freeware file encryption programs around. Kruptos 2's file menu and icon interface are the picture of simplicity. Encryption is almost effortless. You can drag and drop files to the Kruptos 2 window, and the latest version adds support for dragging and dropping folders.

The encryption algorithm is Blowfish 128-bit or 256-bit, and fast. A key feature obfuscates file names but leaves folder names unaltered. The program offers a feature to see original file names with the proper password, but it is invoked one file at a time. However, Windows integration means you can perform all functions from your context menu.

Unlike many similar programs, files in nested folders are all quickly encrypted as individual files. With a single click you can decrypt a file and edit it, and the file re-encrypts on close. Self-extracting encrypted files are created with a minimum of fuss. The Shred function deletes original files to DOD standards. The program does offer a nag screen for donations, but only once. Kruptos2, with all its features, is what every user needing simple file encryption desires.

Under a contract administered through the U.S. Air Force's Precision Attack Targeting Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, Northrop Grumman's Defensive Systems Division will ultimately deliver over 240 sets of advanced Plug and Play II(tm) data-links to support the U.S. Marine Corps as well as Air Combat Command, Air Force Reserve Command, Air National Guard, Italian and Spanish navies, the Royal Australian Air Force and the Royal Netherlands Air Force.

Northrop Grumman's LITENING AT targeting pod is a self-contained, multi-sensor laser target-designating and navigation system that enables operators to detect, acquire, track and identify ground targets for highly accurate delivery of both conventional and precision-guided weapons. LITENING AT features advanced image processing for target identification and coordinate generation; a 640 x 512 pixel forward-looking infrared sensor; charge-coupled device television sensors; a laser spot tracker; an infrared laser marker; an infrared laser designator/range finder; and a plug-and-play bay configured to accept a wide variety of data-links and recorders.

This advanced Plug and Play II data-link capability offers warfighters increased range, state-of-the-art digital data recording and an option to incorporate secure, two-way communications over ultra-high frequency (UHF) radios without the need for aircraft modifications.

"LITENING AT's new advanced Plug and Play II data-link is another example of how our open-architecture design enables us to respond rapidly and affordably to our customers' needs," said Mike Lennon, vice president of Targeting and Surveillance programs at Northrop Grumman's Defensive Systems Division. "With the Plug and Play II, warfighters have many options to customize their data-link, including incorporation of advanced data recording for intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance, increased on-board computing to host user-defined networking applications, and the ability to enable secure communication of data and imagery through the addition of user-selected UHF radios. All of these capabilities and options enable our users to tailor the configuration of their data-link to their mission."

Deliveries of the advanced data-links are expected to occur on an accelerated schedule over the next 18 months.

LITENING's Plug and Play I, introduced in 2003, was the first data-link to be incorporated in a third generation targeting pod. Since then, data-links have not only proved their usefulness on the battlefield, they have become essential to the conduct of operations in Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

Later this year, several LITENING AT pods equipped with the new advanced data-links will be used to demonstrate a custom airborne networking application in support of the Marine Corps. This program will integrate a Communications Network Radio System unit into the Plug and Play II data-link. Use of this advanced, network-based UHF radio will provide secure air-to-air and air-to-ground exchange of imagery and data, both of which will also be catalogued and stored in the data-link's on-board computer and mass solid state storage system.

Northrop Grumman Corporation is a global defense and technology company whose 120,000 employees provide innovative systems, products and solutions in information and services, electronics, aerospace and shipbuilding to government and commercial customers worldwide.

Stork Prints Group Unveils Agrios-M Laser Engraver, New Dot-Shaping Software, And Inkjet Module At Drupa 2008

09:45, 23/7/2008 .. 0 comments .. Link
kPZ7LoIX

The Stork Prints Group achieved great success at drupa 2008. The company announced its direct laser engraving technology had achieved new levels of quality on flexo printing formes and unveiled a new version of its Agrios system, a dot shaping software tool and sleeve diameter scanner for the process. The Stork DSI (Digital System Integration) inkjet module was also launched at the stand.

The laser engraving area of the Stork Prints stand was constantly busy with enthusiastic visitors, who were keen to learn about the superior quality, and simple workflow that this purely digital relief printing forme imaging process offers. Three engraving system sales were announced during the show.

At the stand, Stork presented an upgraded version of its Agrios flexo-process direct laser engraver, Agrios-M. The system features an air cylinder, accommodating adapter sleeves, for easy, swift changeovers between different printing forme diameters. Air pressure is channeled through holes on the cylinder during application or removal of the sleeve. Switching the pressure off ensures the sleeve is fixed tightly, so laser engraving can occur. The system ensures optimum stability and best results when engraving thinner sleeves.

Stork prints also claimed a significant quality breakthrough in flexographic laser engraving technology, with the ability to achieve of 100 lines per centimetre (at one percent dot). This is due to a tremendous improvement, thanks to the laser engraving technology itself, the software enhancements on Stork鈥檚 systems and better choice of printing forme materials.

Active 3D RIP Software

An addition to the company鈥檚 FlexoPOWER software, that controls the laser engraving process, is Active 3D RIP, a pre-media relief-dot generation software tool that boosts half-tone and high-light quality by the direct laser engraving process.

The software tool allows unprecedented control when generating negative and positive dot-shapes and dimensions across the whole tonal range from 1 % to 99 % density. This includes unlimited dot depth variables, from zero to maximum, and complete shoulder steepness control, with the possibility to vary angles from 0 to 90. With total flexibility of shoulder steepness, the dots, especially in highlight areas, have optimum support. This in turn gives the printing forme improved durability and consistency of printing quality over longer periods.

The process is precise and fast, requiring minimum manual input. The operator simply determines the ideal three-dimensional shape for the smallest and largest dots. All dot-sizes and shapes in between are then automatically generated. Active 3D-RIP reduces tonal loss by up to 50 percent, compared with existing 3D dot shaping techniques used for direct laser engraving.

Other new FlexoPOWER software additions revealed at the show included the ability to easily import pdf files, which are used as standard in the pre-production stage, and an sms messaging system to remotely alert operators of problems. The latter removes the need to be in the presence of the machine during the engraving process.

Sleeve Diameter Scanning Device

Another quality control improvement available with Stork laser engraving systems is a scanning device that provides fast sleeve diameter measurements. These are carried out before engraving begins, accurate to one micron. This ensures sleeves are within tolerance, or allow the compensations to be made to the engraving parameters. The device eliminates the low but costly risk of quality problems which may occur if a sleeve, which is outside the specification is run on the customer鈥檚 press.

DSI Inkjet Module

Another popular stand highlight was the new prototype narrow-web DSI (Digital System Integration) inkjet module. The DSI module boasts an 鈥渙pen platform: it is easy to integrate into the printing presses from many original equipment manufacturers. With top speeds of up to 35 metres / minute, the module offers fast changeover times and handles all main paper and filmic label substrates.

Bert Grootjen, Program Manager - Graphics, comments: 鈥淲e had much interest in our new system. Many label converters were enthusiastic about the possibility of complementing their existing press with inkjet technology. It provides an effective way of topping up productivity, with short high value production runs, without the need for investing in a dedicated press, or even changing rolls.

Users of the system are likely to find competitive niches in wine, beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceutical labeling.

The Stork Prints Group is the leading supplier of printing consumable concepts for the textile and graphic markets as well as 2-dimensional, high accuracy, metal precision products. The group achieved a turnover of 200 million in 2007. For more information please visit http://www.storkprints.com

What discovered in early 1960's?

Early in the 1960's scientists discovered, that they could create a light source, focus the energy and have a tool powerful enough to affect a variety of materials. Laser marking is the preferred marking method when aesthetics or permanency is desired. Etching provides a permanent message on an in-process or finished component like many inventions of recent times, lasers were conceived in a laboratory. Virtually all materials can be laser engraved or laser marked. With advanced software you can laser engrave practically anything including Bar Codes, 2D codes, photographs and company logos and laser engraving of graphite is a clean operation. Think of a laser as a light source that is similar to a light bulb; a light bulb will emit energy all around it. The ability to laser cut complex profiles can eliminate the need for additional operations, making this type of cutting highly economical. The laser metal cutting option can be added to some of the laser cutting machines. This cutting adds high precision, reduced contamination Early in the 1960's scientists discovered, that they could create a light source, focus the energy and have a tool powerful enough to affect a variety of materials. Laser marking is the preferred marking method when aesthetics or permanency is desired. Sometimes laser marking is referred to as laser etching; unlike conventional etching, it needs no masks or chemicals. or warping, and a quality finish to industrial cutting applications. You can mark most plastics from cattle tags to backlit day and night key switches. Typical industries that use laser marking include promotional, engineering and medical industries. Because no inks are used it is both permanent and the process is kind to the environment. Some of the items that Co2 lasers and Co2 laser systems can be used include: marking and etching glass or quartz, in the manufacturing of glass doors and windows, for in permanent serial numbering, ANSI safety information, for customer logos, in some decorative or specialty glass manufacturing, in manufacturing data related to plant, production date and line, and/or in part numbers. Laser marking services can be used for many thousands of applications from computer keyboards to promotional gifts. It's flexible, programmable and environmentally clean. Laser engraving can be used for most of the jobs currently being carried out by industrial engravers. It's also available in most engraving specialty stores because it's now the most common type of engraving. Laser engraving, cutting and marking is a versatile technology that's being used by many engravers to improve productivity, add more services to their customers and increase profits. Engraving metal uses the most power especially if the metal is a hard metal. There are no consumables to contend with so operating costs are minimal, and the laser machine and system, if properly exhausted, runs clean, so that costly cleanup or by product disposal is unnecessary.

Nadal Defies Injury To Face Andy Murray

08:49, 14/7/2008 .. 0 comments .. Link

Rafael Nadal, the World No. 2 strongly tipped to be Federer's downfall, defeated his 17th seed opponent in a 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 victory despite suffering an early injury to his right knee.

Echoes of a past comeback against the Spanish Mikhail Youzhny were no doubt in his head - in one of their prior matches Nadal came from two sets down to win; a mirror of Andy Murray's victory earlier this week.

In the first set Youzhny 3-1 and then 4-2 lead in two games before ultimately losing the first and all sets. Nadal looked to be the clear favourite on paper, however he has won only a slim majority of their last ten matches, emerging victor in just six.

Britain's Andy Murray came from two sets down to defeat the French No. 1 Richard Gasquet 5-7; 3-6; 7-6 (7-3); 6-2; 6-4, was unfazed by his first tough, and indeed first ever, Wimbledon quarter-final. He promised fans he could win the tournament.

'It felt like that since the start of the tournament,' the 21-year-old Scot said. 'I'm going to have to try and recover really well... [Nadal is] favourite for the match but I believe I can win.' Murray's best odds to defeat Nadal come courtesy of Pinnacle, who give him 41/10 to win. He is 9/2 to reach the final and 862/41 to win the whole championships.

Crypto chip: How the TPM bolsters enterprise security

07:12, 11/7/2008 .. 0 comments .. Link

Who's using the TPM and why? Drivers for using the TPM are very consistent across industries. For example, one financial services company has computed that the cost of lost data far exceeds the cost of losing a machine.

So that's an easy CFO decision to make. Then on the private side, the driver is often laws or regulations. For law firm clients, it's attorney/client privilege.

For others, it's complying with data privacy regulations. Or if you're a utility, it's really been about controlling access to competitive information and preventing losses. Finally, if you're a government agency, such as the National Security Agency (NSA), which utilises the TPM on its laptops, you simply cannot allow sensitive, confidential, or top secret information to be stored in unencrypted format, as numerous data-loss episodes at the Veterans Administration, Boeing, and other organisations have demonstrated.

How does a TPM work with hardware- and software-based full-disk encryption? Surveying data-at-rest options comes down to a conversation about software versus hardware approaches. And hardware-based approaches completely encrypt the data on the drive in minutes per machine, versus hours per machine in the software world.

Obviously, this has total cost of ownership  and management implications. Also, with hardware there's no impact on machine performance, because the hardware handles the cryptography.

Remember that in an enterprise context, simply having full-disk encryption isn't sufficient. You also have to verify it's active, effective, and in the event the machine is lost or stolen, demonstrate that it complied with security policies.

Accordingly, by using Trusted Platform management software (for hardware FDE and TPMs), if an employee loses a laptop, the IT department can prove that all data on the drive was encrypted, and that the encryption couldn't have been deactivated. At that point, even if the lost or stolen data was confidential, regulated, or contained personally identifiable information, there's no data breach notification requirement.

Will a TPM alone fully encrypt a hard drive? No, the TPM enhances software-based encryption tools by speeding the encryption process and also securing archives with strong authentication.

In addition, the TPM works with any hard drive that has the ability to be fully encrypted, which means the fully encrypting drives now reaching the market, such as from Seagate.

The TPM will also work with the forthcoming Intel chipset, codenamed Montevina, which will enable encryption with any type of software or hardware solution that supports TPM. Also going forward, TCG is creating standards for tape, flash and even optical disks with on-board hardware encryption.

Is a particular combination of encryption technology and TPM avocated? No, because different companies have different data protection requirements. Accordingly, the TPM isn't locked into any one approach. That means you can use the TPM to secure file and folder-level encryption, both on clients and within workgroups, all the way up to whole-disk encryption.

How can IT managers begin experimenting with the TPM?
First, just try it out. For example, the Microsoft website has excellent instructions for
how to enable BitLocker drive encryption. Several other TCG members have solutions that enable full-disk, directory and file-and-folder encryption solutions.

From there, the most efficient and effective way to adopt the TPM is to activate it, and add TPM tools to your enterprise client build. Another best practice: have end users set their own TPM password, and back this with security policies that mandate TPM use, plus an awareness campaign. This, by the way, is the approach used by the NSA.

Organic for Everyone: Retailers Can Make Green Clothing Affordable & Accessible to the Average Consu

07:46, 10/7/2008 .. 0 comments .. Link

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 30, 2008 -- Today, many products including food, clothing, and furniture, are made in a sustainable and organic way. However, not all of these products are accessible and affordable to the average American. Prohibitively priced and largely limited to exclusive boutiques, organic products have been stereotyped as luxuries.

"For everyone to participate in promoting a healthy environment, it is imperative to break down these barriers and perceptions by making organic products and clothing accessible and affordable to the masses," said Cherie Ingraham, founder of My Earth Too!, a new line of 100% organic clothing and accessories.

My Earth Too! and its family of brands - We the Earth and Earth and Me! -- which produces an affordable organic clothing and product line, intends to continue making such products available to the masses by partnering with national retailers who understand the average American's needs.

Despite, or perhaps because of, the newness of the trend, opportunities are wide open for manufacturers and retailers to go organic in practically any way they wish--and be assured of a captive and growing audience.

The Annual National Shopping Behavior survey by KPMG business advisory company noted that during the 2007 holiday season, against a backdrop of an overall slowdown of spending, a full 88% of respondents indicated that they were very concerned about the environment, 74% said they were happy to pay more for a "green" or organic product, and 55% said they would make a special effort to shop at "green" image stores. With environmental health being such a huge and unquestioned value in today's society, suppliers can do no wrong by energetically investing in the organic clothing market--they, the consumers, and the environment will all benefit.

Beyond the use of organic cotton in its products, My Earth Too! spreads the message of environmental awareness in another way. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of My Earth Too! products is donated to The Chuckie Goodnight Foundation For The Environment, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating environmental learning centers and teaching children about Earth stewardship and social ethics.

"Our dedication to Earth-healthy values goes far beyond the making of our clothes from 100% organic cotton," said Ingraham. "Our brand encourages customers to understand how their daily choices can promote greater health for the Earth, for their families and for themselves."

About My Earth Too LLC

My Earth Too!, LLC is a unique line of 100% organic cotton apparel, intimates, accessories, bedding and layette. It is the result of both the experience and passion of its founder, Cherie Ingraham, whose 30 years of experience in the garment industry and love of the environment inspired the creation of the brand. Together with retailers, farmers and consumers, My Earth Too! and its family of brands -- We the Earth and Earth and Me -- are committed to becoming part of the solution for a healthier planetСand to providing excellent quality and value to consumers. A percentage of proceeds from the sale of My Earth Too! products go to the Chuckie Goodnight Foundation for the Environment, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the children about Earth stewardship and social ethics.
